Walk around the first university of Thailand to see how Thai education has been developed. Enjoy BACC, Bangkok art gallery and cultural center.

Itinerary

08:30

Meet up at BTS Station (Siam)

08:45

Visit Pathum Wanaram Temple or what's vastly known as "the forest in the mid-city". This temple was built in 1857. It is a perfect escape for some cultural refreshment, and it's even more striking due to the incongruous sight of two huge shopping malls bearing down on this temple.

10:00

Take a BTS ride to Jim Thompson House and Museum which is the original Thai-styled house of an American who helped boost the Thai silk industry in the 50's and 60's. This “Thai Silk King” was an important figure to the worldwide recognition of Thai silk.

11:15

Visit Baan Krua Village, opposite Jim Thompson’s house to see the silk loom which provided Thai silk to Jim Thompson. This is the last place that still be operated until now. So, let's discover the local heritage that is hardly seen these days.

12:00

Lunch at Jim Thompson restaurant. Here, the restaurant offers guests a unique culinary experience, where traditional Thai cooking and service combined for the ultimate Thai dining time. Then, we will enjoy another fun local ride!

13:00

Take a TukTuk to Chulalongkorn University, the first university of Thailand established in 1917. Have a look at the statues of two Kings, the auditorium, 5 Chamchuri(Rain) trees, original Thai-styled office buildings, University Museum ( the museum is closed on weekend & holiday).

14:00

Walk back to MBK Center. We will pass an old Thai house of the university, Dormitory of University, Chamchuri Art Gallery. Then, we will try "Mont", the best Thai coconut custard toasts and steamed milk selling for over 5 decades

15:00

Head to BACC, Bangkok Art and Cultural Centre. It hosts numbers of changing exhibitions from both Thai and International artists which makes it becomes a hot spot for art lovers in Thailand (close on Monday).

16:00

Time to say goodbye! You can get back by BTS skytrain or If you need to go for some shopping, you are at the right places :)

Why this trip?

Siam offers more variety than any other area. It is very easy to get on a BTS around the city. I was born and lived in this area for all my life. I also graduated from Chulalongkorn university both Bachelor and Master's Degree, so I know every bits and corner like the back of my hand.

Things to prepare for the trip

As we will visit temple, you are required to have a proper dress code (no sleeveless/ shorts is ok, if it's not too short/ slippers and sandals are okay) We are going to be outdoor mostly. So, taking sunglasses, hat, umbrella and sunscreen, is a good idea.
