Even though it is called Siam Square, it may not seem like a normal square that you might think of. Siam Square consists of many small alleys full of little boutiques, cafés, restaurants, hair salons and other shops that you may think of. People who come here are mostly teenagers from high school, university students, office workers, tourists, and ex-pats.
Siam Square is surely worth the visit, if you're looking to do some shopping, watch some movies, or just stroll about. On Rama I road, there is a skywalk that connects to the area all the main department stores, such as Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery and Central World.
Walking along Rama I road to the east, visitors can continue shopping at Ratchaprasong. Central World, the famous shopping mall.
Nearby Central World lies Ploen Chit Road. This where you can find some shops and nice restaurants where a lot of ex-pats love to frequent. Though not as lively and crowded as Siam Square, it is more of a home to foreign embassies and airline offices.
At Siam Square, people can find many unique restaurants that offer all kinds of international food and Thai food with a twist. If you would like to dine out in shopping malls, they also offer a wide range of chain restaurants where you can find mid-range prices to more expensive dining places. Even if you are looking for something cheaper, they still have a food court with diverse dining options for you.

Siam Square almost always tops the list of the coolest places to hang out and about for the locals, especially for teenagers and young adults. People do everything here from hanging out, dining, shopping, extra classes, and beauty clinics. In essence, it's the hub of all things cool for Bangkokians!
